Nightscribe’s 2024 End of Year Review

Posted December 30, 2024

Greetings, storytellers, readers, and aficionados of the dark and mysterious — what a year it’s been! As 2024 retreats into the shadows, we’re looking back on everything that made this year unforgettable. From our rebirth as Nightscribe to our first Halloween writing contest and the launch of our new YouTube channel, there’s a lot to celebrate!

With 2024 winding down, we also want to share what’s on the horizon for 2025. So, keep your lanterns lit as we guide you through our final chapter of the year.

A New Chapter: Nightscribe Is Born

In October, we proudly transitioned from Creepypasta.org — a name we’d held since our inception in 2013 — to Nightscribe. This change opened the door to broader variety genres, ensuring that whether you’re seeking horror, thrillers, mysteries, classic creepypastas, or just the plain weird, there’s a place for you here.

  • 192K visitors explored our new domain
  • 1,681 new accounts joined our ranks

Thank you for standing by us in this new chapter. Your passion and support mean the world to us.

The Year in Review

Opening up for New Submissions

After a long hiatus, we reopened submissions — and you answered the call in spectacular fashion:

  • 663 story submissions poured in
  • 224 stories were published

Introducing Nightscribe

We rebranded from Creepypasta.org to Nightscribe, broadening our storytelling horizons. The warm reception to our new identity has been a highlight of the year, and we’re excited to see where this new path takes us.

First-Ever Writing Contest

For the spooky season, we hosted Nightscribe’s Hollow Halloween — our inaugural Halloween writing contest. Your creativity blew us away.

  • 18 contest submissionsRead them all here!
  • 2 winning stories narrated – Courtesy of Ian Gordon and Chadwick Poulsen

We can’t thank our top three authors — Angelina Gut, Timothy Chambers, and Killaton — enough for writing some truly haunting tales. We’re already planning more contests for 2025, each with its own theme, so stay tuned for more!

YouTube: New Horizons in Narration

We took a cautious first step into YouTube a few months ago, and your enthusiasm has been incredible!

We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to narrators Ian Gordon (HorrorBabble) and Chadwick Poulsen (Visceral Imagination) for bringing these tales to life.

And of course our deepest gratitude to all the incredible authors whose works we’ve featured so far: Angelina Gut, Timothy Chambers, The Vesper’s Bell, Arthur M. Bering, and Darius McCorkindale.

  • 6 narration videos published
  • 1,252 subscribers (and counting!)
  • 31K total listens
  • 7.3K hours of listen time (over 304 days of listening!)

Your support encourages us to create even more narrations. We can’t wait to expand our library in 2025.

Website Highlights

Outside of new features and contests, we saw massive community engagement:

  • 509 follows to authors
  • 1,359 favorites across stories
  • 724 comments fueling lively discussions
  • 4,840 ratings with an average score of 4.2 stars
  • 192K visitors browsing our eerie library

Every follow, comment, and rating helps build our warm — yet haunting — Nightscribe family. Your support has been an inspiration, and we’re eager to continue growing our platform with you.

Looking Ahead to 2025

Though we’ve achieved a lot in 2024, there’s still so much more to come. We remain dedicated to nurturing a vibrant home for stories of the dark and uncanny — and to elevating the creative voices that make it all possible.

Nightscribe 2.0: The Next Chapter

We’re hard at work on a massive update that will include:

  • Website design improvements for smoother reading and discovery
  • Powerful new author tools to help creativity thrive
  • Better narration support allowing authors and narrators to connect
  • Enhanced community features for connecting with like-minded storytellers

An End to the Infamous Review Queue

We’ve heard your frustrations loud and clear. In 2025, we’re overhauling our submission process so authors can publish whenever they’re ready — without sacrificing the quality you’ve come to expect on our platform. Get ready for a system that truly puts creators first.

Empowering Authors

Next year will also see us exploring ways to let authors earn a little extra. This is our way of helping writers thrive and earn from their incredible work! Your author profile will become a comprehensive hub where fans can discover and support your work, helping you earn revenue from your creative endeavors.

Our Gratitude to the Nightscribe Community

From our roots as Creepypasta.org to our transformation into Nightscribe, you — our authors, readers, narrators, and curious souls — have shown unwavering support. You’ve submitted stories, left thoughtful comments, listened to narrations, and spread the word far and wide. Above all, you’ve reminded us why we continue to bolster the strange, the eerie, and the unknown.

As we close out 2024, we offer our deepest thanks to each and every one of you. Raise a toast with us to an even bigger, better, and more enthralling 2025!
