Sometimes the tale tells you.
I’m Alfie Aston, New Hampshire-based author of uncanny tales. I’ve been writing weird fiction in one form or another for nearly thirty years, and I’m delighted to share the best of it with you here at Nightscribe.
If you like H. P. Lovecraft, Stephen King’s Dark Tower series, or the classic tales of r/nosleep, you’ll find something here to enjoy. I strive to create well-crafted tales full of dark corners, ancient secrets, and battles worth fighting.
And fun. Mustn’t forget the fun.
Enough about me. There’s something lurking over there in the shadows. What say we go have a look?
Writing dark, structured fiction with a focus on historical detail and narrative precision. My work tries to focus on tension derived from authentic settings, archival mechanics, and the psychological impact of atmospheric dread rather than cheap shocks or worn-out tropes.
Currently, I am drafting a historical horror novel structured through sequential folios, beginning with an embedded translator's preface and moving chronologically through the text. The project explores the intersection of translation, historical isolation, and quiet terror.
Dear reader,
Welcome to my profile.
Here you can find many strange tales, most of them are of the horror and/or sci-fi categories. Though I am trying out different genres as well, like fantasy and comedy.
I hope you can find something here to your liking, but beware of the strangeness contained.
