I've been such a coward. Never before have I stooped this low. Never before have I done something like this out of fear. Yes, it's all because of a fear that can thoroughly be explained and the reason is an understandable one. But somehow the feeling I got from doing it hasn't left me. It's like it's slowly rubbing my back, poisoning my skin. It has burned itself deep into my soul and the chills I got from that day still haven't disappeared in the slightest. I dislike this feeling.
I don’t remember falling asleep, and that’s the part that keeps scratching at me the most. There was no slow drift, no soft surrender into dreams, no moment where the world dimmed and gave me permission to leave it. One second I existed somewhere real—my room, I think, something familiar, something that should have grounded me—and the next I was standing on a sidewalk that stretched too far in both directions, like it had forgotten how to end. The sky above me was a pale, exhausted gray, not…
My name is Michael, I'm 30 years old. I live alone in a rented apartment. The silence is maddening. The rare hammering of new neighbors is almost pleasing — you know that feeling. I turn on the TV just so I'm not bored and at least I can hear someone's voice. One day I decided to visit my aunt. The road was long, but what can you do? Anything to not be lonely. I packed a small bag — just some clothes and a phone charger. I didn't even check if she was home. I just needed to drive.
I work as a night-shift moderator for a major social media platform. My job is simple: I watch the videos that the AI flags as "disturbing" before they go live, and I hit Delete or Approve. You see things that change you—car crashes, animal cruelty, the worst of humanity. But after six months, you go numb. Until last Tuesday. The AI flagged a video titled IMG_00042.mp4. It was only twelve seconds long. The thumbnail was just a dark room. I clicked play.
My name is Victor. I am a resident of a quiet village near which there was a forest, there were many stories and myths about it.
Once, very, very long ago there was a traveller. His travels reached so far and wide, he had touched each edge of the world. His eyes had witnessed the beauty of nature. He had felt the warmth of the friendliest and kindest people. And yet, it all appeared not enough, for he would never stay anywhere for long. Village after village. Forest after forest. From one strange unknown to the other. It was as if he was searching for something, restlessly pursuing.
Are you unsatisfied with your life? Are you unhappy with all the little things you own? Then come visit the underground store once. Here you can find a solution to every problem. We are eagerly awaiting your visit. A new store has opened in the shopping center near my house and I, having nothing better to do, decide to go check it out. In all honesty the recent ads have been freaking me out a bit, the shop's mascot just looks wrong.
Disclaimer: This is a retake of a pretty obscure classic creepypasta called America’s Funniest Videos Banned Episode by Owlbeseeingyou. If you’ve been watching TV on a Christmas night in 1992, you may have captured something weird; I know I did.
The babysitter kept checking the baby monitor. It was an old house, the kind where every step made the floor groan like it didn’t want you there. The parents had just left, smiling, saying their baby never cried at night. That should’ve been comforting. It wasn’t. At first, everything was normal. The baby slept peacefully on the monitor, curled under a soft blanket. The sitter sat on the couch, scrolling her phone. Then the screen flickered. Just once. She frowned and looked up.
I feel the cold object in the palm of my hand as it's being handed to me. A key. I've saved up enough for my own place and feel a sense of joy as the small object almost freezes my hand. However the temperature of it changes quickly as the warmth in my hand turns the object lukewarm. The old man before me, still seems a little on edge. "You remember what I've told you before right? You can still give back the key if you don't want this place."
Parkside Inn was a small Bed and Breakfast hotel in the town I live in. It was barely twenty-three rooms in total. I had passed it many times, as it sat in the heart of the city. Its location was its strong point. Across from the hotel was a big park, the one that gave it its name. Cafes and restaurants ringed the park, keeping the area busy. And there, amidst the families and the children playing under the trees, stood this colossus of concrete and steel.
I uncapped the red pen and added another "X" to our calendar. A small one, as not to take up more space than needed. After all, the box already had three others inside just like it. Who knew how many more we would have to add?
I've always wanted to be a writer. I've always so desperately tried, to then always fail. I've written stories about dragons, stories about strange civilizations, and yet it seems to be that all my hard work has been for naught. I grasp to every chance to write something, be it a competition or just for others. And I always end up getting hurt, again and again and again and again and again. Perhaps they've been right all along, I just don't have any talent.
"Vincent, I got a job for you!" someone shouted from the other side of the bathroom door. "For me!? Can't you give it to someone else!?" "They asked for you, it seems to be one of your clients!" "Damn it, I want to go on vacation for once." His colleagues started to laugh. "That's the downside of being famous in the business" yelled one of them over the showers noise.
I want to tell you about what happened with my sister and her boyfriend. It was a long time ago now, but I still feel like someone ought to know. My sister’s name is Diffie. I mean, her real name is Eugenia, but no one calls her that. You know how it goes. When this all happened, she working part-time at the Food Ministry downtown and living upstairs in our parents’ big old farmhouse.
I don’t know how I wound up here in this place. I think it began when I was in Oklahoma travelling across the country in my van. I can’t be really sure though anymore.
Back when I was about 12 we used to live in an old farmhouse near the Tombigbee River. It was about a mile away so walking there was a regular afternoon pastime. There were a few ponds on the way and a couple of broken down older farmhouses and barns to explore. My friends and I explored them a few times.
